Once again the Magnum Opus Pro Rally came to Alger county and raced through some of our backwoods roads. The AARC was contacted prior to the event for communications assistance and we gladly helped out. We have a long history with this rally club and were happy to learn that they were planning to return to our area for a race.
There is a lot of planning that goes into an event like this and we were involved in setting up and maintaining the all important communications network. The race this year, at 111 miles, was about half the size of previous events.
The AARC had several operators on the scene and as usual the rally drew other hams to the area for additional support. In total there were about 15 operators providing logistic and emergency communications. Check out some photos of the 2002 Magnum Opus Munising Pro Rally |
